|Version:||WCAG 2.0 and up|
An alternative for time-based media is provided for all prerecorded synchronized media and for all prerecorded video-only media.
The purpose of this success criterion is to ensure that users who cannot reliably read captions or hear audio descriptions can still access video content.
How to Meet
To meet this success criterion, authors must provide a text alternative that fully describes the action and events of the video. The alternative must provide more comprehensive information about the video than a simple transcript (i.e., it is more like a serialization of the video in novel form).
The knowledge base does not currently include information on how to serialize videos in text form. Refer to the WCAG guidance documents for additional information.
