Purpose
The purpose of this success criterion is to ensure that users are not distracted from reading by real-time updates.
How to Meet
If authors push updates to users through their publications, they need to ensure that it is possible for users to turn off or delay the messages while they are reading.
It is not common practice to push updates to users. Reading systems updates to publications (e.g., a bookstore that pushes an updated version of the publication to its reading applications) are outside the scope of this requirement.
Additional Information
The knowledge base does not currently include additional information on handling content updates due to the lack of implementation in publishing formats. Refer to the WCAG guidance documents for additional information.
